Guided tour in English of the “Zofia Rydet. The World of Feelings and Imagination” exhibition

We invite you to a guided tour of the exhibition: “Zofia Rydet. The World of Feelings and Imagination”, during which you will discover the lesser-known, lyrical side of one of the most outstanding Polish women photographers.

The works from the “World of Feelings and Imagination” series, often composed of fragments of earlier photographs, may seem surprising to those viewers who are familiar with Rydet’s reporter-like images. These surreal collages touch upon the most significant matters. According to the artist, the works in this series “are about humans threatened from the moment of birth, about their feelings and desires, about loneliness, fear that only love can save them from, and about the dread of annihilation and the tragedy of time passing”.

Guide:
Marcin Krotla – art historian, museum and anti-discrimination educator. Apart from the Museum of Photography in Kraków, he has worked with the Forum for Dialogue Foundation, the International Cultural Centre in Kraków, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków (MOCAK) and the Wawel Royal Castle. Recently, he has also been involved in projects and educational activities at the Galicia Jewish Museum. What he values most in his work as an educator is the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with the audience, build relationships and share his passions.

Prace z cyklu „Świat uczuć i wyobraźni“, złożone często z fragmentów wcześniejszych zdjęć, mogą wydawać się zaskakujące widzom przyzwyczajonym do reporterskich kadrów Rydet. Te surrealistyczne kolaże dotyczą spraw najważniejszych. Według słów autorki prace z tej serii „mówią o człowieku zagrożonym już od chwili narodzin, o jego uczuciach i pragnieniach, o samotności, lęku, przed którym ratuje tylko miłość, o strachu przed zagładą i tragedią przemijania”.

Prowadzenie:
Marcin Krotla – historyk sztuki, edukator muzealny i antydyskryminacyjny. Poza Muzeum Fotografii współpracował z fundacją Forum Dialogu, Międzynarodowym Centrum Kultury w Krakowie, MOCAK-iem i Zamkiem Królewskim na Wawelu. Od niedawna realizuje także projekty i prowadzi działania edukacyjne w Żydowskim Muzeum Galicja.
